OverviewThe Princeton Materials Institute (PMI) at Princeton University invites qualified candidates to apply as a Research Specialist within the Micro and Nano Fabrication Center (MNFC) with a focus on all lithography processes including electron beam lithography and photolithography. The MNFC is Princeton's central shared-use fabrication facility with over 15,000 sq ft. of clean room space, housing a large complement of tools dedicated to thin film deposition, photolithography, e-beam lithography, etching, packaging, and metrology. Together with the other PMI core facility, the Imaging & Analysis Center (IAC), the MNFC enables and supports a wide range of cutting-edge research at Princeton and with researchers from other academic institutions and companies in the fields of electronics, quantum computing, physics, material science, chemistry, photonics, and biochemical & mechanical engineering. The MNFC is currently positioned for an exciting period of growth, having relocated in 2017 into a larger new facility on the beautiful and historic Princeton University campus. Princeton is a vibrant and tech-focused historic town still with a small town feel in the heart of NJ, close to NYC/Philadelphia (each easily accessible by train), but with plenty of natural wide-open spaces nearby to enjoy as well.We are looking for an energetic and motivated team player with creativity, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and capable of solving demanding technical and research problems. The successful candidate will participate in a multidisciplinary research and education environment mentoring and training student researchers and industrial users in all aspects of both electron beam and photolithography processes and equipment.ResponsibilitiesOversee, maintain and troubleshoot 2 electron beam lithography systems. Be person responsible for liaising with service engineers for routine maintenance, service calls, upgrades to hardware and software. Develop and maintain process development protocols and electron beam optimization software.Oversee, maintain and troubleshoot contact lithography tools, direct-write and mask writing photolithography tools, spin coaters, and develop tools.Training new MNFC users (internal and external) and supporting existing tool users:Advising on process parametersPerforming process development for baseline processes, and performing process and equipment troubleshooting.Support the daily operation of MNFC and assist with laboratory incidents.Perform other tasks as assigned.QualificationsEssential:Bachelor's degree or equivalent3+ years work experienceKnowledge of micro/nano process/tool characterization, optimization, and maintenanceAbility to work in a cleanroom laboratory with compressed gases, acids, solvents, and other chemicalsAbility to lift 20 lbs.Preferred:M.S. / M.Eng. in physics, chemistry, engineering, a related field, or equivalent experienceAt least 3 years hands-on experience in a research or production cleanroom in photo or electron beam lithographyExperience in electron beam lithography equipment and their associated processes, especially with Raith EBPG 5150 systemsExperience with GenISys BEAMER and TRACER softwareExperience with Suss contact aligners and/or Heidelberg Direct Write photolithography systems Related links Apply now
